After several years of run off and erosion, this backyard pond was beginning to fill in with sand and muck! Time to dredge!
-
More “before” Aquatic South. This is the inlet where water used to be up to the rocks!
-
When your pond starts growing land- more before pictures!
-
Another before, note the muck and sediment made its way all the way to the end of the pond, accumulating at the walls .
-
Aquatic South just getting started! Pond is (mostly) drained- those gumballs become a real problem for pumps! The muck is this pond ranged from 6” deep to over 4 feet in some places!
-
We got flooded out twice during this 3 week project, so much for “de-watering” the sediment!
-
Aquatic South specializes in difficult to do projects, and this was no exception. Access was tight, only way in and out is truck and trailer. Makes for a lot of trips to move 200+ CY worth of muck!
-
Starting to see some progress, about half way done moving this muck out!
-
Finished with the muck, new rip rap installed, created a small check dam to catch the sand and silt before it goes to the other end of the pond
-
Finished product from Aquatic South! The owners can now continue to enjoy their pond for years to come!
