Mechanical Dredging to Remove Sediment

Over time and as a result of natural processes like erosion, sediment & decaying material will build up in your aquatic environment, which will trigger a sequence of harmful events to the surrounding areas.

While not only aesthetically unpleasing - there are more important reasons to routinely remove sediment from your body of water.

Sediment accumulation ultimately displaces the volume of water your lake or pond was meant to handle, which can cause flooding on your property or downstream.

In addition to water displacement, as the depth of your reservoir decreases, the water temperature is affected more easily. Radical changes in water temperature can harm the aquatic life and produce additional vegetative growth, which can be costly and difficult to remedy.

Why Dredge?

There are two main methods to removing harmful buildup - mechanical or hydraulic dredging.

Mechanical dredging involves the use of excavators to scoop sediment from your waterway. The removed material is then allowed time to dry and then trucked away to the nearest dumpsite or spread in a desired location on your property, if desired. This method can be completed with or without lowering the water level, depending on your location. With the use of heavy duty polyurethane track mats, your property will be minimally disturbed by our machines.

Hydraulic dredging involves a pump system floating on a small boat, pumping the sediment through a pipeline and into a containment area or large dewatering bag. This is later loaded into trucks and hauled to the nearest dumpsite.

Every scenario is different, and our experts will work with you to determine the most cost effective and minimally invasive method to complete your project.
